Workform collaborated with Studio Tilt and the Hiscox in-house creative board on a project which has redefined staff user journeys and experiences.
We advised, sampled and procured all aspects of the FF&E and a selection of joinery pieces featured in key locations.
Set over two floors, the 35,000 sq ft office space hosts employees and guests in a bright and airy environment. The front of house experience comprises the Hiscox Art Cafe, the social heart of the space as well as a gallery and formal meeting rooms which house a newly acquired work from American artist James Turrell, a first for the City of London.
The vision of Oliver Marlow of Studio TILT, the sculptural design of the office connects Hiscox’s colleagues and customers in an intuitive and inclusive way, while creating an immersive platform for the Hiscox art collection.
Oliver curated a group of design disciplines across hospitality, workplace, lighting, furniture, finishes and materials to create a special space. Working with these disciplines, and an internal team of Hiscox employees through a ‘Creative Board’, he was able to get under the skin of the Hiscox brand and respond to the brief in a dynamic and innovative way.
The whole space is bold and sculptural, designed for exploration, and creates the atmosphere of a living brand experience: the energy felt when people meet to work together in space that inspires. “We wanted to challenge the way offices are delivered, taking inspiration from hospitality, dining and gallery environments. The end result brings together the creativity within Hiscox alongside the collective team of designers to reinvent the office experience for employees and guests alike.
Oliver Marlow, Creative Director
This approach brought together Ciszak Dalmas, Ferrari Studio, Studio ZNA, Workform and Studio TILT to deliver spaces that showcase the Hiscox art collection while providing an environment where employees and customers alike will want to work, do business, and connect with each other.
A standout feature of our lobby in our new London office is the ceiling installation artwork, a specially commissioned piece by artist Julie Freeman. Called ‘More Than Us’, the artwork reminds us to think in a more-than-human way, and that even with sophisticated data, chance and randomness will always have a hand in our collective fate. Two communities of colourful geometric shapes drawn from Suprematist paintings of the early 1900s, move in response to historical and predictive climate catastrophe data sets, which have been built using our own real-time business data, as well as data from our Hiscox partners RMS and Verisk.
We set out to create a working environment that has energy, warmth and people at its heart. In order to make great things happen, you need to bring people together in person. Which makes our office so important – and we are delighted with the result. “We wanted to challenge the way offices are delivered, taking inspiration from hospitality, dining and gallery environments. The end result brings together the creativity within Hiscox alongside the collective team of designers to reinvent the office experience for employees and guests alike.

Completed in 2023 within the UK’s first building to adhere to the WELL Building Standard, the hybrid working model at 22 Bishopsgate covers areas over two levels.
These include client facing and private meeting rooms, an Art Café social hub, catering spaces, client waiting areas, extensive back-of-house break-out nooks, stand-up collaboration zones, squad rooms, a large exhibition hall and other co-working / group spaces.
The fluid back of house design encourages movement and curiosity with casual meeting spaces and workstations offering glimpses of activity, places for privacy and a home for inspiring art. The use of natural, and where possible, recycled materials delivers a warmth and comfort that enhances wellbeing and energy.
